Must buy item: Get skating with Dorothy Perkins!

I'll hold my hands up and admit that I'm not much of a Dorothy Perkin's fan. I find their clothes are often lacking in inspiration, plus close up they always look a bit, well cheap.

However, occasionally they do pull out all the stops.
First they had that gorgeous jumpsuit, which sold out in double time. Now, they've introduced this cute floral skater skirt.

It ticks all this summer's trend boxes - floral, full and short. In fact, it looks very much like some of the skirts Urban Outfitters is selling. The main plus point however is that it costs a bargainous £22. So even if this trend dies a death by autumn, you've not wasted your dosh!

If you do one thing this weekend...

Patrizia Pepe sunhat on ASOS - It's fashion, dahling!... get out in the sun - it may be the only sun we have ALL year. To make the most of it, throw on this cute sundress. Plus, make sure you lather on the suntan lotion and for extra protection channel the Great Gatsby in this gorgeous Patrizia Pepe hat.

... pay a visit to the seaside. My faves are Whistable for some real old fashion seaside glamour, Torquay and Hove (it's quieter than Brighton but just as cool!

... go ape! If you're feeling more energetic, why not try swinging through the trees for a day. I've done it and it's great fun. It is exhausting but just think of all those calories you're burning!

Have fun!

If you do one thing this weekend...

Puggles - It's fashion, dahling!... discover a fashionable new breed of dog. I'm torn between a puggle (a pug mixed with a beagle) or a goldendoodle (a golden retriever mixed with a poodle). The days of the small it dogs are over!

... pretend summer is nearly here. Well it is meant to be around 19 degrees tomorrow - woo! Celebrate the start of the sunny season with this lovely TopShop sundress and these gorgeous fringed sandals - tribal is so very in for this summer.

... wear your favourite slogan t-shirt to Executives and Secretaries and Denim T-shirt Slogan Party at Papermill, 2-5 Curtain Road, EC2. Choose one of these lovely little Uniqlo lovelies - my favourite is this local guide t-shirt, although be prepared to be asked for lots of directions!

Have a great bank holiday - see you on Tuesday!

Must-buy item: Pink M&S jumpsuit

Pink M&S jumpsuit - It's fashion, dahling!Sorry for not posting for a while - it's been a mixture of illness and too much work that's kept me from my computer.

Anyway, business is now resumed with this lovely little summer must-have. Sometimes Marks & Spencer hit exactly the right fashion note and their latest Limited Collection items are no exception.

This gorgeous M&S playsuit is just perfect for holidays - or the rare occurance of bank holiday sun!

It can be dressed up with heels and jewels or thrown over a bikini with flip flops - plus the lovely pink colour will look simply wonderful with a tan. What's more, it's the bargain price of £19.50.

Celebrity Style - Natalie Imbruglia

Natalie Imbruglia in a tartan trench coat - It's fashion, dahling!Anyone who reads this blog regularly will know I am obsessed with the Princess of all Aussie's, Kylie, so it's probably no surprise, that fellow Oz girl Natalie Imbruglia has made it on to the blog this week.

I've always loved the way she dresses. She's fashionably without being trendy. She looks modern but wears clothes her way.
This outfit is a point in case. She's flung on a tartan mac and teamed with skinny jeans - neither of these items are particularly fashion forward, yet she looks amazing.

I think the reason she looks so fabulous is because she is comfortable in her clothes and has found her own style, something at 34, I've yet to do!

If you do one thing this weekend...

Madonna - Vanity Fair exhibition - It's fashion, dahling!... go and wonder at the power of photography at the Vanity Fair exhibition at the National Portrait gallery. It finishes next month and is a definite must-see if you like celebs and fashion as I do!

... buy this uber cute Osamu Tezuka t-shirt from Uniqlo, as seen on Chloë Sevigny in their recent campaigns.

... get ready for the return of Indiana Jones. Harrison Ford returns on 22 May. Weirdly, for someone who has worked in the world of film for the past 8 years, I haven't seen a single Indy film so I've borrowed the Indiana Jones box set and am indulging in some action-packed fun this weekend!

... be eco friendly and fashionable with the help of the new BBC Thread site. It's got eco fashion tips and so much more - visit it now for some inspiration!

Must-buy item: Go peachy with Paul and Joe Sister

Paul and Joe Sister peach shirt - It's fashion, dahling!I don't normally spend a lot on my clothes but every once in a while, I do try and invest in something that's slightly better quality.

So far, I've bought a Antik Batik dress and an Alice McCall skirt - next up is a Luella t-shirt and hopefully this lovely little peachy number.

I love Paul and Joe and their diffusion line, Paul and Joe Sister, is just in that save-up-for-a-couple-of-months-but-still-doable bracket.

This little number will look fab tucked into a pair of high waisted wide-legged jeans. Equally it will look gorgeous teamed with a little denim skirt and some cute pumps. Summer is on it's way - hurrah!

News Round-Up: Good and bad celebrity hairdos

These stories are on my radar this week:

Lily Allen goes blonde. Why do celebrities with dark skin try and go blonde? It's not a good luck love - get the brunette dye out.

New Bond girl Gemma Arterton has a hair makeover
for Quantum Of Solace. I thought she looked fab with a brunette bob in the St Trinian's flick, but I'm loving the red hair even more.

Help stop global warming with Wayne Hemmingway. Find out more at B&Q and win a sweatshirt designed by the man himself.

Kylie and Will hug in public. Are they friends again? I don't mind that, I just don't want that man, with his Doctor Who loving ways, near her in a fashion sense every again!

Yellow is the big colour for spring/summer. Why not bag yourself this lovely little lemon number from Miss Selfridge? I have!

Must-buy item: Do an Aggy with bright tights

Agyness Deyn in white dress with bright tights - It's fashion, dahling! The model-of-the-moment Agyness Deyn showed just how to deal with seasonal changes by teaming her spring/summer white dress with some bright coral tights.

Not only does this keep her outfit really fresh looking, but it also keeps her pins nice and warm - something you need with this bizarre ever changing weather we're having at the moment. Snow in April anyone?
Bright coral TopShop tights - It's fashion, dahling!
The other great thing about this quick fashion fix is it's nice and cheap.

Pop down to TopShop to buy these lovely bright tights and give your outfit the Deyn look for the bargain-ous price of 6 quid.

Must-buy item: The best summer dress ever?

Warehouse denim dress as seen in LOOK - it's fashion, dahling!OK, this denim dress from Warehouse may not look much but I think it's a real winner for spring/summer.

It's flattery for most figure types, is dead on trend with it's cute 50s style and most importantly, extremely versatile. Dress it up with bright wedges; sling on your flip flops or white pumps for some holiday sightseeing; put a long sleeved stripey t-shirt underneath for colder days.

It's pure fashion genius.

Oh and by the way, my shopping ban officially ends tomorrow - watch out the West End, I'll be hitting those shops with a vengeance on Saturday!

Must-buy item: Gingham is go!

TopShop gingham jacket - It's fashion, dahling!Even though it's freezing cold outside, there's something about Easter that makes me think of Spring. I know it's come early this year but I still want to ditch the winter wardrobe and break open some new floaty, colourful clothes.

Of course you still have to be practical - it's no good swanning around in a gorgeous tea dress if it's zero degrees outside.

So that's where this gorgeous gingham jacket comes in. It's only £50 from good ole TopShop and is one of those pieces fashion magazines calls transitional - i.e. you can wear it now and in spring/summer.

How cute will this look with a pair of faded cropped jeans? Or slung over a cute floaty ruffle dress? I'm very much in love... roll on April so I can start buying!!

Is anyone bothered about Kate Moss?

Kate Moss new TopShop range - It's fashion, dahling!Floating around on my radar this week are the following news/gossip titbits:

1. Does anyone care about the new Kate Moss TopShop collection? According to the Daily Mail, it's a big fat no as hardly anyone showed up yesterday at the TopShop launch. To be fair, any following season isn't going to really be as big as the debut, especially as Mossy herself turned up for all of about 3 seconds in the window that time. Also, maybe the civilians are cottoning on to the fact that Kate just copies her favourite designer togs rather than creating something new and exciting.

2. All the papers are full of the details of the Mills-McCartney divorce today but hardly anyone has noticed how bad Heather's personal style is. It just goes to show you that not only does money not buy you love but it also doesn't buy you taste.

3. It's celebrity makeover day as Jessica Biel goes back to her natural brunette locks (thank goodness) and Gwyneth Paltrow has gone for the chop. As you'd expect from play-it-safe Gwyneth, it's hardly radical but it looks a lot better than the Donatella Versace style she had before!

4. Poor ole Sarah Jessica Parker. She was recently voted the unsexiest woman alive by some magazine. It must be difficult to deal with such nastiness, but let's not forget that Maxim is a magazine whose ideal of beauty involves pneumatic breasts and orange skin.

5. Banana Republic are coming to the UK. Their new shop launches tomorrow (20th March). I must be the only person who isn't excited about this. I found their shops in New York so uninspiring - for me it's just clothes for city workers, but perhaps this new shop will prove me wrong.

Must buy item: Luella goes batty!

Luella Superhero t-shirt - Net-a-porter, It's fashion, dahling! If you want to buy a piece of affordable designer gear, you can't go wrong with this batty t-shirt from Brit designer de jour, Luella.

Not ony do all the coolest celebs wear Luella (Lily Allen, Kelly Osbourne and Scarlet Johansson have all been spotted in her creations), but superheroes are now in vogue thanks to a forthcoming exhbition at the Costume Institute at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
What's more, it's only 55 squid.

Ok, it's quite a lot for a t-shirt, but fairly reasonable considering it's designer, dahling! Get ready to sing... dinner, dinner, dinner, dinner BATMAN!

Must-buy item: Don't go breaking my Kiki

Kurt Geiger shoes - It's fashion dahlingHaving always been a fan of Elton John and Kiki's Dee uptempo duet, I was thrilled to find a shoe named after the Northern songstress! What's more, I think these gorgeous Kurt Geiger shoes would be the most versatile asset to your spring/summer wardrobe.

They're neutral but with a hint of colour (block colour is all the rage this season I'm told) and are high enough to be sexy but with a platform for ease of walking.

Ok, they're not the cheapest shoe around but I think the price per wear will justify splashing out.

I've only got one whole month before my spending ban is lifted so I'm just crossing fingers and toes, these little beauties stay around until then!

Must-buy item: Lovely lemon!

This is THE dress that I want for the wedding I'm going to in August. It's got a very Marilyn Monroe feel to it. It's from Miss Selfridge and costs a bargain £45.00.

I'm planning on adding red shoes and a red handbag to create the perfect Wisteria Lane Desperate Housewives look. So Bree!

Is Kate Hudson pregnant?

Here's the news on my radar this week...

Kate Hudson pregnant - it's fashion, dahling1. Kate Hudson has started wearing baggier clothes while off duty. Nothing strange there you might think, it's certainly what I do on a weekend. For poor Kate though, it's sent the rumour mills into overdrive - is she pregnant? Or perhaps she likes to feel comfortable when not squeezing into red carpet frocks?!

2. Speaking of pregnant celebrities,
Nicole Kidman was spotted drinking wine at the Oscars. Shock, horror indeed. I had one friend, who has had 3 healthy babies, who had a glass of wine a night.

3. Last night I felt a tremor in my bedroom but it was nothing to do with my lovely husband - ha ha! I was one of the few peeps to feel the recent UK earthquake. I was actually alerted to it by my poor dog whimpering - if that hadn't happened, I would probaby have slept through it all!

4. Get the Oscars look by plumping up your lashes. Full eyelashes was a popular beauty look with A-listers such as Heidi Klum and Anne Hathaway. For once an easy to copy red carpet look - hurrah! My favourite mascara is Urban Decay's Big Fatty mascara, which plumps up my blonde weedy eyelashes to Twiggy proportions!

5. And finally... summer is well and truly on the way. Well it must be if TopShop have got their first delivery of Havaiana flip flops in. I live in these during the summer. Bring on the sunshine!

Long-haired celebrity children and Essex night outs

These are the guilty pleasures I'll be indulging in this week:

Celebrity babies - Kate and Ryder Hudson - It's fashion, dahling!1. Ogling cute celebrity babies! My favourite just has to be Ryder Hudson - if I ever have a little boy, he's having long hair! Other faves include Seal and Hedi's kids, Gwen Stefani's Kingston (just voted most stylish baby on the planet) and the gorgeously blonde Shiloh Pitt-Jolie. She's going to be GORGEOUS when she's older.

2. Dancing away my cares to Mark Ronson. I'm off to see the hip producer tonight. Am excitedly trying to work out who will appear on stage with him! Last time he played in London, Tim Burgess did a guest spot. Would love that to happen tonight. I would however wee myself if Robbie turned up but since he's become Brian Blessed's look-a-likie, I doubt this will happen.

3. Binge drinking in Essex! I hate the rise of binge drinking and normally I'm a wine with my meal kind of lady but this week has been the LONGEST week ever so I'm going to let my hair down on Saturday night in my best pal Pip's hometown. Watch out Leigh-on-Sea!

4. Working out what to buy this spring. My ban will be over in April (not that far away now) so I'm busy putting together a wish-list for spring. So far, these gorgeous Kurt Geiger sandals and this poppy skirt from TopShop are topping the list.

Must-buy item: The Pippa jean

Pippa Jeans - TopShop - It's fashion, dahling!I love these TopShop jeans way much. It's not only because they are named after my best friend, but they also feel fabulous on. Yes, they may not look much in the photo, but the denim is soft, stretchy and very forgiving. In fact, I've had to go down a size in these - wooo!

They also come just to the ankle, which is very spring/summer. I'm going to team them with a cute gingham top and French Sole ballet slippers for that 50s startlet off-duty look!

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Must-buy item: Romance is in the air!

I just love this blouse from ASOS. Normally I'm not keen on their stuff. I've ordered things from their site in the past and it's all a bit cheap, but this peachy-coloured blouse looks lovely.

Fashion peeps would tell you this is a good buy as it taps into the romantic trend, which is going to be big for spring/summer.

Buy it now and you can team it with jeans and a black blazer to toughen it up. Come the warmer weather, mix it with other pastel colours to create a truly beautiful look. You get twice as much wear out of it so it really is a bargain. Just a shame I'm not buying anything until April!

Oh, la la - it's Marion Cotillard

Celebrity style - Marion CotillardThis fashion lot who I work with are squawking furiously about their new style icon, Marion Cotillard. T

he Parisian actress has recently appeared on their best dressed pages and for once I don't disagree with their choice. What's more, I spotted the potential in this beautiful brunette last year when she played the legendary Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose. Since then, her red carpet look has just improved and improved.

I love this outfit - mixing nude colours with red isn't something I would've thought of but am now desperate for my clothes boycott to be over so I can try it!
