... get your SJP fix prior to the Sex And The City movie opening with Smart People. Sarah Jessica Parker plays a doctor who falls in love with a widowed professor. There are no Manolos, but it's meant to be pretty good!... up the glamour stakes with some Marilyn Monroe film action. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is on the box on Saturday afternoon. You know it's bound to be raining so stay inside and get an injection of '50s glamour. This is my favourite Marilyn film - you're bound to get some style tips as well!... cheer yourself up with some Eley Kishimoto sunglasses. They're on sale at Brand Alley at the moment and are just delicious. Very '50s in style, you could wear them while watching Marilyn!... go out in the country. Yes, it's raining but who cares. Just pull on a pair of Hunter wellies - I'm going for the navy, but you could push the boat out and buy a pink pair if you so decide!
Like nearly every thirty-something, Sex And The City was a ground-breaking TV show for me. Not only did it feature lots of lovely frocks, but it also talked about sex - something that had been missing from mainstream TV. For me and my single friends it was a reassuring - and entertaining - show to watch. I may not have owned a pair of Manolo's or a Fendi handbag, but I could still identify with the man situations the glam foursome found themselves in.When the show ended, myself and six girlfriends went out to watch it at a special night - we supped Comos and sobbed with joy as Carrie got it together with Big.So you can imagine my delight to see they would make it into a film - I just hope it doesn't disappoint. The great news for us UK fans is the world premiere of Sex And The City is not taking place in New York but little old Leicester Square, London.Sarah Jessica Parker was out in the capital last night dining with fellow star Cynthia Nixon. As usual SJP looked amazing. In my eyes, this woman can do no wrong. Yes, she may not be conventionally pretty but I think that adds to her charms. She also seems to make the most ordinary outfits - in this case, a below the knee petrol blue dress - look so stylish. Even after SATC has finally gone to the fashion graveyard in the sky, this lady will still be looking hot! Check out more pics of SJP on PopSugar.
Floating around on my radar this week are the following news/gossip titbits:1. Does anyone care about the new Kate Moss TopShop collection? According to the Daily Mail, it's a big fat no as hardly anyone showed up yesterday at the TopShop launch. To be fair, any following season isn't going to really be as big as the debut, especially as Mossy herself turned up for all of about 3 seconds in the window that time. Also, maybe the civilians are cottoning on to the fact that Kate just copies her favourite designer togs rather than creating something new and exciting.2. All the papers are full of the details of the Mills-McCartney divorce today but hardly anyone has noticed how bad Heather's personal style is. It just goes to show you that not only does money not buy you love but it also doesn't buy you taste.3. It's celebrity makeover day as Jessica Biel goes back to her natural brunette locks (thank goodness) and Gwyneth Paltrow has gone for the chop. As you'd expect from play-it-safe Gwyneth, it's hardly radical but it looks a lot better than the Donatella Versace style she had before!4. Poor ole Sarah Jessica Parker. She was recently voted the unsexiest woman alive by some magazine. It must be difficult to deal with such nastiness, but let's not forget that Maxim is a magazine whose ideal of beauty involves pneumatic breasts and orange skin.5. Banana Republic are coming to the UK. Their new shop launches tomorrow (20th March). I must be the only person who isn't excited about this. I found their shops in New York so uninspiring - for me it's just clothes for city workers, but perhaps this new shop will prove me wrong.
