Having found myself without a job, I've decided to get back onto the blog and start imparting my fashion updates! Well it's better than being sad about my situation and sitting around watching Loose Women.
One reader commented on my Lovely Lemon entry about matching lemon with red accessories and asked whether it would be a bit Ronald McDonald. Well to prove that it worked - or at least I think that it did - I'm posting a pic of me wearing that exact combination at a wedding last year. Let me know what you think!
It is with great sadness that I write this blog post as it will be my last. Due to work commitments geting more full-on, I just don't find the time in the day to write about my life in the world of fashion. It's been nearly a year since I left the world of Entertainment behind and despite my HUGE reservations at the beginning, I think I'm really starting to enjoy it.
Despite my preconceptions, coloured by the worlds of Ugly Betty and The Devil Wears Prada, everyone in the industry (bar two people, who will not be named!) have been wonderful and so much more down to earth than the movie peeps I used to deal with. And I am a girl who can be bribed and boy, you get great goodies working in this industry.
So it's been short, but very sweet. Writing this blog has definitely helped the transition but it's off with the braces and specs and onto embracing my inner Anna Wintour! FAREWELL!
The playsuit/jumpsuit was a bubbling under item last year. I got my mitts on two different types last summer and wore them to death. I'm a total convert - they really are much more flattering than you think. The only downside is having to strip off when you need the loo so they're not very good for camping/festivals/etc!
In my past job, the Cannes Film Festival was a big deal. Not only was it about the celeb gossip, but also about the movies natch. In this job, the frocks are the stars.
To be honest, I've already had my fill of these movie gowns. There doesn't seem to be a lot of individuality this year and even Cate Blanchett, whose style I normally admire, looked a bit dull.
Thank goodness for former-model-turned-actress Rachael Leigh Cook. She stepped out in this gorgeous hot pink creation, which is fun and youthful. She looks her age, which I think is sometimes a problem with these full on red carpet frocks. Rachael has managed to look cute in everything she's worn in the South of France this week.
The only accessory I'm not too sure about is her bearded hubby, Daniel Gillies. Normally, Daniel looks hot, so let's hope the facial hair is for a movie.
... get your SJP fix prior to the Sex And The City movie opening with Smart People. Sarah Jessica Parker plays a doctor who falls in love with a widowed professor. There are no Manolos, but it's meant to be pretty good!
... up the glamour stakes with some Marilyn Monroe film action. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is on the box on Saturday afternoon. You know it's bound to be raining so stay inside and get an injection of '50s glamour. This is my favourite Marilyn film - you're bound to get some style tips as well!
... cheer yourself up with some Eley Kishimoto sunglasses. They're on sale at Brand Alley at the moment and are just delicious. Very '50s in style, you could wear them while watching Marilyn!
... go out in the country. Yes, it's raining but who cares. Just pull on a pair of Hunter wellies - I'm going for the navy, but you could push the boat out and buy a pink pair if you so decide!
I'll hold my hands up and admit that I'm not much of a Dorothy Perkin's fan. I find their clothes are often lacking in inspiration, plus close up they always look a bit, well cheap.
However, occasionally they do pull out all the stops.First they had that gorgeous jumpsuit, which sold out in double time. Now, they've introduced this cute floral skater skirt.
It ticks all this summer's trend boxes - floral, full and short. In fact, it looks very much like some of the skirts Urban Outfitters is selling. The main plus point however is that it costs a bargainous £22. So even if this trend dies a death by autumn, you've not wasted your dosh!
